Academic Overview

Overview

The academic structure of the courses and the schedules are finalized by the University Authorities and the college will follow the same. Examinations will be conducted at the college both for mid-sessional work and for end examinations. The question papers are sent by the University and the end examinations will be conducted as per the directions of the University.

Evaluation

Students are advised to go through the Academic Regulations of JNTU syllabus book (applicable for the respective batches) on regular basis to understand the Examination Regulations.

1. Internal Examination
Internal Examination consists of theory subjects for 2/3/4 year B.Tech, during the semester there shall be 2 midterm examinations. Each midterm examination consists of one objective paper, one subjective paper and one assignment. The objective paper is for 10 marks and subjective paper is for 10 marks, with a duration of 1 hour 20 minutes (20 minutes for objective and 60 minutes for subjective paper). Objective paper is set for 20 bits of - multiple choice questions, fill-in the blanks, matching type questions - for the 10 marks. Subjective paper of each semester shall contain 4 full questions (one from each unit) of which, the student has to answer 2 questions, each carrying 5 marks.

First midterm examination shall be conducted for 1-4 units of syllabus and second midterm examination shall be conducted for 5-8 units. 5 marks are allocated for Assignments (as specified by the concerned subject teacher) - first Assignment should be submitted before the conduct of the first mid, and the second Assignment should be submitted before the conduct of the second mid, and the average of the two assignments shall be taken. The total marks secured by the student in each midterm examination are evaluated for 25 marks, and the better of the two midterm examinations shall be taken as the final marks secured by each candidate.

However, for first year, there shall be 3 midterm examinations (each for 25 marks), in a similar pattern as above [1st mid shall be from 1 unit, 2nd mid from 2-3 units and 3rd mid shall be from 4-5 units], and the average marks of the three examinations secured in each subject shall be considered as final marks for the internals / sessionals.

2. University Examination
Each theory examination will be descriptive and conducted at the end of semester / year. Each question paper will consist of 8 questions out of which the student has to attempt 5 questions. Each question carries 15 marks. Practical end exam will be conducted for 50 marks with External Evaluation.

3. Eligibility
Students have to put up a minimum attendance of 75% (as per JNTU) in aggregate to be eligible to write the external examinations conducted by JNTU.

4. Qualification & Promotion
Students are advised to go through the Academic Regulations of JNTU syllabus book (applicable for the respective batches) on regular basis to understand the Examination Regulations.

5. Award of class

Performance Monitoring and Guidance

1. Student Feedback
Incase the students' find it difficult to cope up / understand a particular subject, they are advised to discuss it with

  • The Concerned Teacher
  • The Student Mentor
  • The Department Head
  • The Principal

Students can use the suggestion boxes for communicating feedback. [Students should mention their names so that they can be informed of the progress / more details / clarifications can be obtained]

2. Student Mentors
Every student is assigned a student mentor [a faculty member]. Students can directly discuss their college related or personal problems related to studies with them. The Mentors are accessible whenever they are free from class / lab work. Mentors may meet the students once a fortnight to discuss the progress. Students can contact them during working hours or on phone.

3. Class Representatives and their roles
Two students from each class are selected as the Class representatives from each department from First year as well basing on their % of marks in Intermediate or EAMCET rank. The selections are made by respective Department Heads.

Their responsibilities include

  • Communicating the departmental / college directives & information to the students
  • Collecting the feedback of difficulties faced by the students and communicating suggestions for improvements
  • Coordinating academic events and co-curricular activities
  • Encourage students to interact for better studies, sharing books and notes.

4. Performance Counseling
Mentors and coordinators will evaluate the student individually for the following:

  • Less marks in Internal exams
  • Continuous Absence (3 days)
  • Not understanding the subject
  • Students from Telugu medium

5. Special Classes/Tutorial/Revisions
Special classes are conducted for students who are weak and who do not perform well in their internal examinations / class tests or for the students who want extra help. Students can approach their mentors or Department Head for special coaching.

6. Backlog Management
A complete record of Examination results of each student is maintained by the Mentors and they counsel and guide them in preparing for backlogs. Students are provided with material and important questions are discussed.

7. Correspondence with parents
Parents will be informed about the performance of their ward from time to time in the semester. However parents are requested to be in touch with the Student mentor / Department Head on a regular basis.

Student Activities

  1. Fresher's Day

    The college organizes Fresher's day where the Second year students welcome the Freshers. Principal and Department Heads will grace the occasion. Second Year students will organize cultural events and conduct competitions for Freshers. Refreshments will be provided by the management.

  2. Annual Day

    Annual Day will be celebrated in a large scale. Chief Guest(s) are invited from Industry, R & D Institutions, University and Govt. officials. Principal presents the annual report of the college for the academic year.

    A. Felicitations: for students cash awards of RS.1000/- will be given in different activities like sports, cultural, games, events.

    B. Sports Events: Out Door events like cricket, football, volleyball for boys & Throw ball, Tennikoit for girls are held. In door events like Chess, Table Tennis, Caroms at College level may be held once in every month and also for Annual Day.

    C. Cultural Events: Competitions like Singing, Anthyakshari, Light music, Classical music, Dance, Mimicry etc are conducted.

    D. Literary Events: Competitions like Essay writing, Elocution, Debate, Group discussion, Quiz, Dumb Charades are conducted

    E. Extra-circular Events: Events like painting, flower-arrangement, card-board arrangement, vegetable carving, classroom decoration etc., are held on Annual Day.

  3. Workshops & Student Paper & Project Presentation Contests-"BHASWARA"

    The College has also been very active in organizing Workshops and Student Paper Contests. The College has conducted successfully three times a national level technical paper &project presentation-BHASWARA. It has also conducted a FDP on Advanced java concept in colaberation with SUN MICRO SYSTEMS INDIA LTD. workshop on ORACLE, .NET, Communication skills etc.

  4. Student Seminars

    Students are encouraged to prepare and present seminars in the hour scheduled for the same in the Time Table. Students can form teams and prepare seminars in the subjects they are studying using PowerPoint presentations.

  5. Symposium

    College organizes Symposia by inviting eminent personalities to encourage, influence and challenge students. These personalities are renowned Academicians, Researchers, Scientists, CEOs, and important Government Officials and Persons.

  6. Guest Lectures

    College organizes guest lectures at department level for technical advancements in the respective field and also to sharpen the knowledge in the subjects in the curriculum.

  7. Training & Placements

    Industry-academia interaction has made our education being more industry specific, guided and structured by different industries. The placement cell conducts short term value added courses (like J2EE, GIS, .Net, Testing tools, Embedded systems etc.) in the vacation for interested students.

  8. Industrial and Study Tours

    Local industrial visits are arranged for II and III Year students. Outstation Industrial tours will be allowed for final years only during the semester break.

Teaching

Student centric teaching methodology adopted to help them understand the core concepts thoroughly. Each classroom is transformed into forums of discussions where views are exchanged and knowledge is transferred. Latest audio visual methods adopted to make learning more efficient and enjoyable.

Course files
Extensive course material is prepared by concerned lecturers taking in contributions from the related faculty. The material is available to each student on the college website. Essay, short and objective questions are provided with solutions and are updated every year/semester.

Projects
Students have to submit projects in their final year and they are given an opportunity to learn with their mini projects in the third year. With the projects, students gain exposure to real time applications.

Manuals
At the beginning of the semester lab manuals are prepared to help the student learnt the concepts practically. All the experiments included in the curriculum have their procedures recorded in the manual.
